3!5 BLVD Pop Up Gallery
This pop-up gallery was held in an abandoned night club that closed after a shooting occurred several years before. The space had a history of drugs and prostitution among other crimes and was seen as a nuisance by the city and local community. Ignored for years, the space's ceiling leaked, was filled with rat droppings, and was in general disrepair. A large effort by artists, friends, and family fixed the space up before the artists filled the walls and floors with paintings, murals, and installations. The pop-up had two openings featuring a range of artists including Parrish Majestic, Greg Barton, Alex De Jesus, and the pop-up's organizer, Mike Smack. The event attracted a diverse spread of the local community and helped to shift the general perception of the space as a failed night club.
